Singers Nightmare

You may not be familiar with singer's nightmare... it is very similar to actor's nightmare!... you show up and don't know what play you're in, you don't know your lines, you have no costume...or worse you're naked!.. Well, singer's nightmare is no better! You don't know the song, you sing the wrong song, and you have a cold and can't sing yet are still forced to! Or maybe your accompanist doesn't show up or you find out that the normally private audition is in front of EVERYONE IN THE WORLD!.... If you're not getting the picture yet.... ITS HORIFYING!!!!!!

Well, I have had a migraine all weekend, so naturally I have been sleeping a lot!... But it seems that everytime I go to sleep I fall in to this mortifying scenario!
I am auditioning for the University of Colorado at Boulder this Saturday. I am literally singing my pieces in my sleep! If I start thinking about the audition too much before bed, I won't be able to sleep at all.... then when I do sleep... its awful!

Last night I was to the point of wit's end!... normally I can't sleep with any music on, but last night I had to listen to something to get my audition out of my head! I returned to my go-to nighttime album... Roar of Love by 2nd Chapter of Acts
It's fantastic! It takes the story of CS Lewis' The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and turns it in to song!! It's brilliantly ahead of its time!!! If you are a Lewis fan, or a '70s Christian rock fan... or you just want to hear an AWESOME album!!!!! Listen to it! Listen to the message... you will be blown away!!

P.S.
This goes out as kutos to my big sis Lysha! Who insisted that we listen to this album EVERY NIGHT for years!! Love ya Lysh!!!

I'm Bad at this whole "Writing Thing"!!!

Ha! so I that I was going to write at least once a week!!... well that hasn't happen... But I am not giving up yet!!! So here is my attempt for the week... and if we get a stream of writings in the next couple of days... that's ok by me!!

SO what's new? Well I have newish job! Instead of subbing a few days a week like I was... I am now in a long term subbing position in a special-ed room at Meadowbrook Elementary School. It is quite fun and I really enjoy the kids and teaching. I will not lie, it is a bit strange.. seeing teachers I remember from High School, who has retired now and came back to an elementary school for the fun of it!...I remember being terrified of these people... and now I eat lunch with them and discuss our kids... it’s kind of comical! Also, because I am subbing for the lead teacher, I have 2 paraprofessionals that are under me... both are older and I feel rather intimidated not knowing what they think of this little girl who is now kinda their supervisor!.. I found out that I went to high school with one of the lady's daughter... how would you feel if a girl who was your little girl's friend in high school was you superior?... it rather odd! Anyhow...

I am teaching more music lessons now!!... I have 3 students... all different instruments! Cello, Voice and can you believe it Guitar... she is only 7 and doesn't know anything so I am starting her from the very bottom. Its really fun! She knows a scale and 2 chords right now! I'm so proud of all my students!!

Oh and other new development... I'm in the play "Cheaper by the Dozen" I am playing Lillian Gilbreth.. That's the mom... Yes the mother of 12 children! And My husband is being played by man who is a bit more convincing in the role of a father with 12 kids!..It really is so fun and it’s good to be on stage again! It really is my favorite thing...yes I prefer when I get to sing, but I love strait theatre! I just love playing a part, memorizing my lines and actions and especially putting on the makeup and costume and really being someone else!

I am getting rather nervous... Next week I am going down to CU (Colorado University at Boulder) for a live audition in the Music Dept! I can't wait to jump back into school and being singing full time again, but I can't help but be a little nervous to audition to one of the top 10 music schools in the country! :)

Well that is all for now I'll try and keep this writing up!
